| The FTI Rotary Drum Filters are self-cleaning, in-line, in-channel,semi-submerged with the flow entering the upstream end of the screen drum. This accommodates a wide range of solid types and sizes and has a slow head loss which eliminates the need for a lift pump. It achieves high performance in systems where it is essential to prevent the particle fragmentation. The screening wires are perpendicular to the flow, thereby affecting a change in flow direction. This change in direction and wedgewire geometry ensures a 90% capture of solids larger than the aperture and discouranges stapling of stringy, fibrous material. The FTI Rotary Drum Filters work without pressure and are designed with few moving parts to ensure long life and low maintenance costs. | |||

HOW THE ROTARY DRUM FILTER WORKS

| • Product particulate/liquid
flows through the upstream end of the slowly rotating screen drum • The wedgewire screening is perpendicular to the flow, causing a change in direction as the liquid falls through and the solids larger than the screen aperture get trapped inside. • The separated solids are removed by lifting staves, progressively moved around the screen and deposited into the solids collection tray and discharged. |

All design aspects of the application must be considered to determine model selection. Drum Filter flow capacities are based on selection criteria and design parameters of the standard units.
