Filter Press

Frontier Technology, Inc. (FTI) filter presses are sturdy built, with a rugged carbon steel stand coated in durable epoxy paint. Standard plates, frames and their components are fabricated from solid bars, plates and forgings of # 304 stainless steel. Heavily reinforced for maximum life, the precision-machined plates, frames, and heads warrant a tight seal and near zero leakage without gaskets.

Filter Presses can be fabricated in a variety of metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other special alloys upon request.

• Available in both round and square types
• Sizes range from the 1211 compact models to the large 3011 production models
• Easily customized to meet your special needs
• Sludge frames of open design
• Fabricated construction
• USDA accepted models
• Heavy-duty side bars
• Liquid-filled pressure guage
• Precision-machined plates, frames, and heads
• Stainless steel drain pan

The FTI filter press is a highly efficient, compact dewatering device for separating solids from liquid slurries in the form of compressed cake. It's major components are structured framework, filter chambers, and filter cloth.
PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION

The hydraulic cylinder controlling the follower plate presses the plates together creating a sealed unit. Slurry is pumped into the chambers of the filter press under pressure. The liquid passes through the filter cloths on each chamber and is discharged through the filtrate discharge system. Solids content and remaining water build a cake on the surface of the filter cloth. The slurry is continuously fed under pressure to all chambers. This process continues until cake is compressed to maximum solids concentration. The pump is then shut off, hydraulic pressure is released, adn follower plate is retracted. Plates are then separated and cake discharges by gravity into cake disposal container.
HOW THE FILTER PRESS WORKS

The structred framework is made of fabricated steel and is composed of:
A fixed plate (A); a follower plate (B); which compresses the filter plates, and a hydraulic cylinder (C) that controls the follower plate.

Side rails (not shown) support the filter plates and hold the fixed plate and hydraulic cylinder assembly together. The press is supported by legs (D) of sufficient height to ensure adequate clearance for cake disposal.

The filter chambers consist of plates that are covered with filter cloth. A feed pump (not shown) supplies slurry through the feed pipe (E) to the filter chambers under pressure. Discharge pipes (F) carry the effluent from the filter.

Feed and discharge locations, filter cloth selection, and size of press are dependent upon type of application and required capacities.
