Why
a Double Belt Press?
|

|

|
Assume that a single belt press will produce a cake with 30% solids. This means that one ton of cake contains 0.3 ton of solids and 0.7 ton of WATER. What if you had a Frontier Technology DOUBLE belt press that could produce a cake with 40% solids from the same sludge? What would the cake weigh? % Solids = (wt of solids / wt of solids + wt of water) X 100 Solve
for the water weight: 0.4 = 0.3 / 0.3 + water wt. Total cake weight = 0.3 ton + 0.45 ton = 0.75 ton This represents a 25% reduction in cake weight. How many tons per day will your operation produce? It depends on 1) how many gallons you process per day and 2) the average solids concentration of the sludge you process. Grease trap waste is typically 2-4% solids. At 10,000 gallons per day of 4% solids: 40,000 mg/l x 8.327x10-6 x 10,000 gal/day x 1 ton/2,000 lb. = 1.67 tons/day dry solids If the cake off the belt press is 30% solids, how many tons of wet cake are produced? [(1.67 tons/0.3) - 1.67] + 1.67 = 5.57 tons per day If
the cake off the belt press is 40% solids, how many tons of wet cake are
produced? What does this mean for your disposal cost? If your landfill charges $35 per ton tipping fee and you have a roll-off service that charges $9 per ton (typical price for the service), your total disposal cost is $44 per ton. At
30% solids: 5.57 tons/day x $44/ton = $245.08 per day This
is a conservative example. Your percent solids using a
Frontier Technology belt press could
actually be HIGHER. It is always more
cost effective to sewer water than to haul it in solids. |
